Training is conducted at our primary field in Stoufville, Ontario, with flexible ground-handling sessions available and conveniently located near the GTA

Duration:75% of the course.

Focus: Master the glider before adding the motor.

Building a strong foundation on the ground is the key to safe flying. In this phase, you will learn equipment assembly, canopy inspection, and essential wing control skills:

  • Forward and reverse inflation techniques (kiting)

  • Directional wing control and throttle coordination

  • Smooth ground taxiing and landing posture

Note: Kiting practice can be scheduled at our main training field or in suitable open parks near your residence in the GTA.

Paramotor Handling & Confidence Building

Focus: Transitioning to motor operation and emergency protocols.

Once your wing control is instinctual, we introduce the paramotor engine. This phase bridges ground handling and actual flight, giving you full confidence in your gear:

  • Engine startup, throttle control, and safety procedures

  • Carrying and launching with the motor (Foot Launch or Trike)

  • Simulator hanging tests and harness adjustment

  • Flight communication and emergency response procedures

Duration: 10–25 Hours

Safety & Preparation

At Toronto Powered Paragliding, safety is our absolute priority. We follow strict Transport Canada protocols and provide a comprehensive pre-flight briefing to ensure you are fully prepared for your day in the sky.

Pre-Flight Briefing

Our certified instructor will cover essential weather patterns, aircraft systems, and emergency procedures before you take off.

Equipment Check

Every paramotor is inspected for wear and tear, and your harness and helmet are checked for safety compliance before every flight.

Weather & Flight Conditions

Powered paragliding depends on suitable wind and weather conditions.

Your instructor makes the final decision to fly based on conditions at Stouffville Airport (CBB2). If conditions are not suitable, your flight will be rescheduled.

Safety always comes first.

Important Medical Requirement Notice:

We strongly recommend obtaining the required Transport Canada Category 4 Medical Certificate before starting your course. Although you can begin training without it, securing your medical certificate in advance is best—especially if you have any existing medical conditions or scheduled surgeries—to ensure you can complete your training without interruption.
